Kayaking the Coast
Sechelt Inlet Provincial Marine Recreation Area
A popular
sheltered inlet, there are many marine parks and small bays. Home to
many marine birds and animals there is even the occasional killer whale
to be spotted. Ensure that you time your trip with the tide changes in
mind. Additionally on hot summer days the wind can really pick up in the
inlet, making the return trip to your launching point a slow and
difficult one (speak to your hosts - keen kayakers).

Smugglers Cove Provincial Park
This area earned it's name
from its history of illegal chinese labour smuggling over a century ago.
This tiny marine park is well protected and one of the most popular
summer anchorages on the coast. This park also has some trails which can
be road accessed, and a couple of camping spots.

North and South Thormanby Islands, Simson Marine Park
Offshore this is a pretty location and occupies much of South Thormanby
Island and is only a 2 mile paddle from Halfmoon Bay. During low tide
there is a large sandbar that connects North and South Thormanby
islands. Beware the wind in Welcome Passage!
Buccaneer Bay Marine Park
This is located on the West
side of North Thormanby Island and offers a nice spot for a
break if you're planning on circling the islands.
